Initiated by Jonas Kocher, Šalter Ensemble is an electroacoustic ensemble of composers-performers-improvisers bringing together some of the most innovative musicians from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Switzerland. The ensemble performs pieces by Roko Crnić, Bertrand Denzler, Tomaž Grom and Robert Roža.
After a residency at Izlog Festival (Zagreb) in May 2017, Šalter Ensemble has played following festivals and venues/series: Izlog (Zagreb), Ring Ring (Belgrade), Cerkno Jazz (Cerkno), Ispod Bine (Split), Spazio Zephiro (Castelfranco Veneto), Zvokotok (Ljubljana). A concert in Switzerland is planned in 2019.
This project is produced by Association Bruit and co-produced by Zavod Sploh Ljubljana, Jazz Cerkno and Student Center/Izlog Festival Zagreb. Partners: Ring Ring Festival Belgrade and Ispod Bine Festival Split.
Šalter Ensemble is supported by Swiss arts council Pro Helvetia, SUISA Fondation, Fondation Henneberger-Mercier, Canton of Bern and City of Biel/Bienne.
Bertrand Denzler and Jonas Kocher also play occasionally as a duo.
